Saturday, June 2nd 12 - 4pm

Hancock Park School Carnival 2012

The Family Fun Day Carnival is a day full of fun and games for everyone!  Volunteer an hour of your time to help make this event a success.  Opportunities to help abound...from setup on Friday (6/1), throughout the day on Saturday (6/2), Classrooms with parent volunteers will receive special recognition at the carnival!

We are using a site called "Volunteerspot" for online sign up.  Click the link below and follow instructions.  Pick the activity and time that works the best for you....and remember, proceeds from the carnival directly benefit the school and your child(ren)!  THANK YOU!!

2012-2013 Enrollment Information

Prospective Kindergarten parents will have the opportunity to visit and observe Kindergarten classrooms during the month of April on Tuesday mornings (April 10, April 17, April 24) from 9-11 am. Parents can also pick up Enrollment Packets from the school office at that time.

Please Note
LAUSD has changed the School Entrance Age requirements for the 2012-2013 school year. Kindergarten students must be age 5 years or older on or before November 1, 2012 for the 2012-2013 school year.

Fully completed Enrollment Packets can be brought to the school office
beginning April 10th, 2012 for preferred processing, 9am - 3pm.

In the 2012-2013 school year Hancock Park School might reach capacity and we would then have to direct students to other schools, so parents should enroll earlier than later. Please make sure you live within the Hancock Park Attendance Area since no new permits will be issued for out-of-attendance-area students.

Morning Drop Off Volunteers

Parents please sign up to help with the morning curbside drop off. Parents from each class room cover one week out of the school year. Each volunteer signs up for just two days for the year. It's fun and easy to do. From 7:30 till the bell rings, and we’re DONE!

Curbside drop off is crucial for Hancock Park, given the parking situation, and volunteers help keep costs low for the school. Thanks for your help!

California Budget - Act Now

The Message:
Don’t Blow It!  Pass a budget that fully funds education NOW.

BubbleBlowGirl.jpgOur California leaders are on the verge of blowing it, and our children are going to pay the price.  The current budget proposal depends on revenue generated from a not-yet-passed November initiative -- but even Kindergartners know the school year starts months before that. Our schools can’t pay for teachers and programs with money they don’t have and might never get.  Parents demand that the legislature do their job and create a balanced budget with no cuts to education. To read about how California education spending compares to other states (hint - we are at or near bottom), please click here. To read Educate our State's review of Governor Brown's proposed budget, please click here.

The Launch: Thursday, March 15, 2012, all across California

On March 15th, the notorious “Pink Slip” day, thousands of teachers will get lay-off notices, including 14 Hancock Park School teachers. In protest of these and other devastating cuts, parents and students will be blowing bubbles to tell our state leaders, “Don’t blow it! You have the power to fully fund education now!”  These launch events will publicize the need for parents to take action by sending letters to state legislators through Educate Our State’s website.

The Action:  What Can You Do?

  1. SEND LETTERS TO STATE LEGISLATORS BY CLICKING HERE!
  2. Upload photos of your kids blowing bubbles so we can deliver them to Sacramento (like the saying goes - a picture is worth a thousand signatures!)  And don’t forget to change your Facebook profile picture to one of you blowing bubbles!
  3. Write a Letter to the Editor - VERY simple, just click here!
  4. Email 10 friends and ask them to take action too!
